Rising cost of living in the last guarter

Currently fuel prices have hit an all time high and food prices are skyrocketing.  Manufactures and service providers are taking advantage of the situation and hiking prices without any consultation,they have take advantage of ignorant and needy population.
Majority of the demonstrators were jobless youth who called on the government to employ them.Some are demoralized school-leavers whom their future seem to be swallowed by inflation and economic recession,poor leadership and misappropriation and poor-inappropriate policies that seem not work yet they are being applied
 regardless of its impacts e.g Muthuto laws that have led to freezing of jobs in the sector.They said they survived through well-wishers and occasional casual jobs regardless of their credentials e.g Diploma or degree. They asked the government to slash the salary of members of parliament by a half and withdraw their mileage allowance divert the funds to either youth funds or industrial sector not mentioning unemployment benefits unlike some western countries and Europe counterparts.
“They should be made to buy fuel as the rest of the motorist are doing and feel the pinch,” added the youths.
Mutoro said that the move by the minister of finance to cut the prices of diesel and kerosene was a gimmick.
The government was further asked to subsidize the prices of the basic food commodities and fuel. Corruption is cited as one of the reasons leading to poor living standards.
from.Politicians and government officers should stop being corrupt. Any money that will be recovered from corrupt deals should be redirected to helping the poor.
Agnes from Sinai slums in  Nairobi told was thankful to the Catholic Church for the help it has provided.
She specifically appreciated the support they are receiving from Consolata Shrine community. She said slum dwellers were the worst affected by the rising standard of living.
The police were present throughout the demonstration and, in a break from the past, there were no ugly confrontations as it has been the case.
